Did you have the impression that times flies by so quickly? If yes, what can you do to slow down time?

First, it’s normal that with the years that pass by, that every hour reduces from a relative perspective. As the Neuroscientist David Eagleman says, “the more familiar the world becomes, the less information your brain writes down, and the more quickly time seems to pass by.”

Additionally, researchers say, time pressure also goes hand in hand with stress. The more stressed we are, the more we are just trying to get through the day as quickly as possible.

So what can we do to “slow” time:

1. Trying to being more mindful. If we focused on the present, we experience the absolute value of time, not the relative.

2. Embrace new experiences. As the psychologist, William James mentions: “if you’ve gotten overly comfortable with life, you have to ditch your comfort zone. By experiencing more “firsts”, you will start paying attention again though “slowing” down the time.”

3. Finally, keep learning.

With that, I hope you will enjoy every moment of 2020 in the most absolute way.

All the best,

Hugh
